1.6 or 1.9?
They are pretty static in price now. If its got tax then its probably worth near the asking price if its in good nick.
Look for rust under the rear seats and under the boot floormat (in the corners)

it's nearly 20 years old, most will have had a knock of some kind. £750 is cheap as fuck for that

well maybe, I am a great believer in that if you have a doubt when you are looking at the car then walk away. For £800 i'd want a pretty sound 1.6. You have to go over them with a fine toothcombe to find the faults. For frontal crash damage the inner wings are a big giveaway. Also have a look at the front panel low down under the radiator.

depending on what you want the car for, buy the best you can afford. the cheap ones are cheap for a reason. I personally prefer the post 90 models as they had the better interior and dash. 1.9 also has the better alloys, disk brakes all round etc You really want as much history as you can get so you can see how loved it is. If it hasent got any its probably a dog! Also the rear beam is an important one to check. The car should be planted over bumps and under braking and cornering.

You have to remember this is an old car now, nearly all of them will have been bumped or in the bodyshop at least once in there lives. Depends what your after, you only get what you pay for If you think it has been badly repaired walk away, it is a buyers market matey
