Bottom end!
Yep last nite on the way home form santa pod, my bottom end gave way, its knockling so loud!! So i had 2 stop and wait for 4 hours for the AA 2 come up, and now they have delivered the car to the wrong bloody place... Arrgghh.
Anyways does any1 have a bottom end around?
I fink now though its goin 2 be built better and stronger, with forgies, conrod bolts and catcams 809's!

Take alook on eBay as somebody on here (cant remember his name) rebuilding a show car 106 was going to turbocharge a GTi lump but when he looked around ay the prices of 8v VTR lumps he was so taken with the money he would save he opted for the 8v.
The point is there was always more 8v's than 16v's, plus 8v owners always saw the 16v as the next step so there are loads of 8v R lumps out there.
You might be best purchasing a complete engine, head and all and doing a complete swap. Aslong as you get the correct plug for the loom you should be fine ie if you've got a Black Top 8v at present get another Black Top and the same goes for the Silver top.
Good luck

Oh ok
Well keep your eyes peeled in the local papers and autotraders/exchange and mart for 16v lumps going cheap.
Still think your best bet is to go for a complete engine, and if you want to uprate internals its upto you.
Might be worth looking on GMC's website for uprated items. Sorry havent got there web address handy but google them and you should find them

They are bomb proof.. Must have had some neglect in its life at somepoint or just not regularly serviced...

Yeh i fout they were pretty strong as well, may of just got unlucky but i have had the engine a year and a half, but i will let you guys know when i source the real problem later on.
I will good rod bolts just 2 be safe as i don't want this happenin again, and should see a good increase with 809's.
