Chipping or Mapping?
Hi
I'm just preparing a VTS for tarmac rallying and after the engine mods are done I was unsure whether chipping or mapping is best to get the most power?
The mods to the engine are Newman PH3 cams, ported and polished cylinder head, Raceland manifold, De-Cat, Carbon air box and a fresh bottom end.
I'm hoping for some reasonable gains, could anyone suggest which is best, and good companies to contact, I live in Norfolk but will travel if I have to.
Thanks
Jonathan

What do people mean by chipping? This is asked alot...
When you get your car remapped, they put a blank chip in and remap this...
So you need a REMAP lol.
Most reccomend chip wizards in manchester, ask for Wayne.

a chip is a pre mapped mod, it does not take into account the peramiters of your engine set up and so will not work with the mods you have because its not mapped for them
a mapping is what you need as it is based upon the engine you have and is mapped to get the best out of them

From what I understood a chip was pre-mapped and just adjusted to each car, a re-map was specifically tailored for an engine.. I wasn't sure how these compare in money and which is better?
Thanks

Thanks for that.. Can you give me an idea how much Chipwizards charge for remapping, might need the timing checked too.
Cheers

each engine is different even in standard form so mapping is suited to each specific engine rather than the one chip that covers them all.
chipwizards about 500
