hi all

i have a saxo vtr mk1 98plate R-reg.. and its sitting on standard vtr wheels,
not been lowered as yet, and i may have the chance to get hold of some 17'' wheels not sure of spec think there 205/45/17 may be wrong

bassically i want to no if they fit straight on of do they need arche work

and what would the case be if i lowered car on vtr wheels would it make a difference when come to put any other wheels on or viser vera for instance put 17s on then lower car what would the case be if put vtr wheels back on.

any comments wil be very greatfull

many thanks ash

i have 17's and they are a pain in the a*se. i have done the arch work myself but i'm not going to put 17's on a saxo again. i'd go for 16" wheels max and a 195/40/16 tyre.

and for 17's a tyre would be 205/40/17

as for lowering, there is quite a bit of arch work to but for 17's but i think on 16" with a 40 profile tyre is needs slight arch work if lowered more than 50mm.

hope it helps, *cough* rep

lee.

yea 16's tend to be a bit more pricey, because people have 15" for performace, 17" for looks and a compromise is 16" so they bump up the price a little.

i'd still go for 16" mate, wiv a 195/40/16 tyre.

upto you anyway mate.

ive got 17" wheels on my car and lowered 60mm. it is a pain cause they do rub at the front on full lock. also rub at the back to, you have to do arch mods. its not hard to do the arch work yourself it just takes time cause you`ll not get it first time. there`s a guide in the haynes modifers manuel but they take it to the extreme imo. or you can join the site as a premium member and there`s a how to guide in there which i used and is very helpful, step by step . like i say i used the guide on here and have no rubbing at all now. hope this helps cheers
