Cam belt change
Ok. I am going to have the cam belt changed this week. And I dont know whether to do it myself or pay a garage to do it. I was quoted £177 from citroen and £90 from a local garage. I know the belts are cheap and i begrudge paying a mechanic to do it! Can anyone shed any light on this, and maybe give me some advice please. I have checked the haynes, and it seems easy enough to remove and fit, its just the tightening process which seems difficult.
Any help is much appreciated and rep will be dished out!

if your unsure get soemone who knows how to do it.
its better to pay more now than get it wrong have a badly set up belt and have bent valves.
a poorly tensioned belt can be very coswtly indeed

As above really. If unsure id just pay the extra. Mines just snapped and bent all the valves. Not cheap at all.

They are easy to change with the right tools, you need a special tool to hold the cams and pulleys, they aren't easy in any respect...
DIY - Save 87 pound, but potentially fuck the engine
Pay someone to do it - probably a 12 month guarentee
Speaks for itself really mate
