Performance upgrades for £300!?!?
Any ideas of the best performance upgrade for around £300 to increase BHP on a VTR?

NO ECU CHIP NO NO NO NO NO!!
breathing mods are fine on a vtr, you wont get alot for 300 so start with the basics and get a decent exhaust and uprated panel filter, then when funds permit if youve not allready done so get a better airbox - further down the line if you want to keep the 8v you can go cams etc..
CHIPPING IS GAY!

I did the following - second hand Magnex system, then K&N filter. Less than £200 all in. Well, just over £200 including getting the exhaust fitted.
Sounds ace, and a quite a decent gain too.

if its an open knN filter it will sound good but give as much engine performance as an anal dong.

chiping is a universal mod that will not get the best of the cars ecu.
you want the ecu remapped to suit your individual mods etc...
chips are for brighton sea front not saxos
the only respectable chips are for turbo diesels and some fords.

For that kinda money Id say Raceland enclosed induction kit from www.kam-racing.com with the Green internal upgrade.
And maybe the SuperSprint straight through centre system which not only replaces the centre box but the cat aswell in one complete pipe, again this can be had from Kam-Racing.
These two mods should come in under that price, if you can save abit more a 4-2-1 budget stainless steel Raceland manifold will improve gasflow and torque and any old sports back box as the back box mainly only effects the exhaust note to a point just dont go bigger than 4' as that might effect back pressure in a straight through setup like that.
