Default Sub Amp 4 channel deal :D

Im thinkin of gettin this Sub amp deal but i think my HU only has 1 preout so i called CarAudioSecurity and they said they could do a deal where i paid the difference to upgrade from a 2 channel amp to a 4 channel

I think the old amp looks better, but im not sure about the performance of it?
I think its better but my knowledge is limited when it comes to Subs and Amps, can any1 help? there's only £10 difference in it

Infinity: REF-7541A - 4-channel Amplifier

or

Infinity: REF475a - 4-channel Amplifier

I'duse2 channels for my comps. And i'll bridge the other 2 for a sub (is this called tri mode?)

Would all this go together?
Thanx

I'm trying to work out your problem, you are afraid that you only have 1 pre-out yet you are upgrading from an amp that only requires 1 pre-out to and amp that requires 2.

From what I can tell, were you planning on getting the original sub and amp deal with the intention of getting another amp to power your components in the future, hence 2 pre-outs in the end but you found out you only have 1 pre-out.

I take it you thought that you could get a 4 channel and run both the sub and components, but didn't realise that a 4 channel amp requires 2 rca cables, 1 for the sub and 1 for the comps, therefore the HU needs 2 pre-outs.

There is a way around this, you can buy RCA splitters that can enable you to use 2 pre-outs when a HU only has 1. Something along the lines of these, RCA Splitter. Could be Male to Female or Vice Versa, depends what connectors are on your amp and head unit.

Sorry,

My HU only has 1 preout (I tihnk)

But instead of buying that exact deal im buying it with a 4 channel amp instead of a 2 channel?

I wont need 2 pre outs for 1 amp will I?

Unfortunatly yes, a 4 channel amp requires 2 pre-outs, it's the same as having 2 seperate 2 channel amps. But as I said before you can get splitters which enable you to gonnect 2 sets of RCA cables to 1 pre-out, and to answer your original question you may aswell get a 4 channel amp, less hassle than 2 amps. In my opinion the 1st 4 channel amp you mentioned is the better of the 2.

i replyed in the other thread mate

dont rate infinity stuff at all tbh also you can buy a y-phono lead which will split 1 set of phono leads into 2, only thing is it wont set up on the headunit that good and supposeably you lose sound quality, but never noticed it when i used it, you can however just adjust the amp to suit the speaker

theres a really good jbl amp on offer at the moment, in tri mode it runs at 2 x 100 and 1 x 300 rms and for just over 60 quid you cant go wrong

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JBL-GTO-4000-4...QQcmdZViewItem

the y phono/RCAs come in a few different ways mate, id buy another RCA lead and get 2 x male to 2 female y phonos (put these on the headunit and you now have 2 sets of plugs)

heres the link anyway

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STEREO-2-PHONO...QQcmdZViewItem

and obviously another rca lead, need about a 5 metre one to get to the boot
