Does this sound reasonable?
The car, Saxo 1.1i X 1998 with exhaust and wheels declared.
with me 19years old, 1 years NCB, 2 year 7 months driving exp and mum and dad on policy too. No insurance claims yet either.
£615 TPFT for 10 months
I dunno whether to settle for it or carry on looking? The 28th is renewal day

just scout round a few other companies and when you get one cheaper then just say you won't renew unless they can beat it and see what happens

I would strongly advise going for a 12 month policy man.

Why is that?
10 months is usually a little cheaper, plus means you get like 1 years no claims bonus after 10 months with a lot of companies?

10 month bonus accelerators = 1 years NCB with certain companies. It only works out cheaper as you pay for 10 months....its pretty much the same if you paid monthly for 10 months and 12 month ie same cost per month.
if that made any sense at all

Yeah but works out better in the long run as you get more NCB over the time... 2 of those 10 month policies in a row save you 4 months on 2 years NCB?
For new drivers could be an ideal way of bringing future premiums down?

When I've done it, it comes out as more expensive per month even though it looks cheaper.
the imaginary 10months = 1ncb only applicable to a very small number of insurance companies
Its a pile of tosh and you're just mugging yourself going on that sort of policy.
