cars has been making a clunking noise when i put my foot down hard after changing gear but lately has got more frequent and happens whenever i put my foot on the accelerator (sp?). found patch of oil on the drive now and looks oily around the base of the rocker cover. is it the head gasket or something else??

what to do is stick up some pics under the engine and we will be able to see if it has gonw... if its around the base of the cylinder head.... the gasket has gone

your rocker cover gasket has probs corrided and is leaking, and when u said about reving it up and leaking then that could be a oil leak from either sump or oil filter

that clonking niose is probs the enigne mounts or the gearbox

think its sorted now.

got someone to look at it and turns out the clip had broken which holds the rubber housing over the cv and the grease had gone ll over the inside of my arch. the rubber seal that sits below the rocker cover has got splits in it so that needs a new one fitted. knocking noise seems to have gone now (hopefully)
