Hey,
I have a 2000/W-Reg Forte model which im planning on lowering(on standard wheels until i save!) and was generally wondering what set up is the best.
Im looking for a much stiffer ride and possibly not much movement or play in the suspension when ppl get into the back seats.
My mate lowered his clio with Spax, 240quid and the ride is spot on what im looking for but since mine has torsion bars who do i go around this? (im getting a garage to this btw) Also how low can i go, 40mm sounds about right but not sure.
Any advice is much appreciated!

You can get lowering springs on Ebay. Loads of choice. Good pfrices too. Get them, take them to your garage, get them fitted, and get torsion bars done at same time. Hey presto!

Sounds like a rather gd idea but if u just lower the torsion bars wont that just be the same ride as before - but lower? may sound silly but i want it stiffed at the bk & ft.

the spring rate on the torsion bar will be the same unless you buy uprated torsion bars (rather expensive bits).

a 40mm drop should suffice.

torsion bars are upwards of £350 from gmc iirc. just lowering them won't stiffen them at all but the ride will be bumpy if you keep standard shocks. you can also uprate the rear anti roll bar. no strut brace for the saxo as it doesnt have rear struts. front brace doesnt affect ride quality as such, it's main purpose is to stop chassis flex under load ie. when cornering and therefor keep suspension geometry at its optimum at all times. you can fit upper and lower front braces to the saxo, but to be honest it's all way too much to be spending on a base model imo. just lower it with a full suspension kit then save up for a better car
