Default Tyre problem, help asap!!!!

Hiya,

Washing my car today and when I finished I heard a slight pishing sound coming from my rear right wheel. Because there was loose water on the car I noticed the air was coming from just next to the air valve on the tyre. I can move the valve from side to side and it seems to block the air from coming out if I push it totally to the left so it must only be a really small crack next to the valve. I took it to my local tyre centre at 515 but the bloke there was a total knobhead and he refused to even look at it as he closed at 6!!! SO I have come home and my mum suggested to just force some paper round the base of the vavle just to hold it until the morning so I can take it to a different tyre centre in my local town. By pushing this paper in it has totally stopped any air from coming out(even though a very small amount was coming out anyway) and it seems to me rather than take it to a tyre centre and have topay a bomb is there any product that I could use to try and fix up the hole myself or is there anything that you could suggest that I could do to try and fix the problem without having to take it to the centre tomorrow morning?

Any help would be very gratefully recieved.

Cheers

Matt

I know this sounds stupid, but try tightening/loosening the valve cap, because I had a problem that sounds like that and I just loosened the cap and never had to change or blow it up the 6months I had it, apart from when the air had come out, lol. Failing that, try one of those rubber adhessive pads you can get.

I just tried moving the cap and tightening it and loosening it but it doesnt seem to make any difference. I think the paper is holding it at the moment so it is hard for me to hear what is going on and I dont want to force it out as its dark and I would like it with some air in to drive it tomorrow if needs be. I might have a go with a tyre pad like you say and a bit of glue. I just think to me it seems like its a tiny split next to the base of the valve and I know for a fact if I take it to a tyre centre they will make me get a new tyre or something which I dont want to do really as I have my eye on a new headunit tomorrow. Thanks for the advice lads.

SORTED, glued round the base of the valve and put some chalk dust on it and it seems to have sorted it for the time being. Reminded me when I used to ride my bike and sorting out punctures on that. Thanks a lot for the help.
