Been reading some reviews on a C2
this is when they was first launched!
Main review:
Well i have had a C2 Furio for 3 months now. I have had the following problems, - Falling out of gear at 40-50 mph, having to stop -restart the engine to get moving again. - Wouldn't start one night, gears wouldn't initialise properly - Wouldn't initialise 1st gear on cold mornings I've had the car in the garage three times it has 3000 miles on now. The problem has however been cured through a patch to the gearbox. if you are buying one of the first models make sure the patch has been applied. I would steer clear however as i reckon that these cars may cause a lot of problems later in life. Get the proper gearbox model. Citroen UK do nothing to maintain good customer relations either, i nearly lost my job as i was extremely late one night through the car not starting. They did not mention it in the letter they wrote back to me, afterwards and offered no compensation.
Reliability: 1/10
Practicality: 10/10
Performance: 9/10
Value for money: 10/10
Heres my diagnosis:
Well i have had a C2 Furio for 3 months now. I have had the following problems, - Falling out of gear at 40-50 mph (used to an automatic), having to stop -restart the engine to get moving again(He can't find or know what a clutch is). - Wouldn't start one night (Try the key or immobiliser), gears wouldn't initialise properly (Clutch) - Wouldn't initialise 1st gear on cold mornings (Again clutch!!) I've had the car in the garage three times it has 3000 miles on now. The problem has however been cured through a patch to the gearbox.(or left foot cant find clutch!) if you are buying one of the first models make sure the patch has been applied. I would !!steer!! clear however as i reckon that these cars may cause a lot of problems later in life. Get the proper gearbox model. (The manual with a decent driver) Citroen UK do nothing to maintain good customer relations either (He can't understand english?), i nearly lost my job as i was extremely late one night through the car not starting (forgot to put the key in ignition and no fuel). They did not mention it in the letter they wrote back to me, afterwards and offered no compensation.
Compensation for what... being a jockey? a propper gearbox
How the hell can you buy a propper gearbox model...
Words from Citroen dealers... oh heres a C2 £5000 it's yours... you will need the propper gearbox as this is just for pretent "Dealer Sniggers" rofl ghey!!
had to post this i thought he was a bit of a wnka 2 be honest!

posted in 2003: oh and this nob.. he would rather drive a nova than a saxo... he thinks the VTR has 87 BHP :| it's rusted well 5 years she must live in a dike pikey bitch!
Ok, so i don't have a saxo, and i don't want one. However, my sister has one and i have spent a lot of time driving it.
It's a 98 VTR, and quite a tidy car. It handles well though the corners and body roll is down to a minimum. Running costs aren't too bad, up around 35 miles per gallon, but for a modern car you'd expect perhaps a little more.
However, it's a bit limp when it comes to power. Firstly, it's only 87bhp which for a 1.6 is frankly lame. Secondly, it weighs quite literally a ton, and the car feels like it when accelerating.
It's also starting to rust a bit, especially in under the arches. For a car that's only just 5 years old that's not good. Also, it's price has dropped dramatically; great if you want to buy a second hand one cheap but not good if you want to sell it! Watch out for outstanding finance as many people were suckered in by the free insurance then had to sell when they realised they couldn't afford it after that year or two, and still had monthly payments on it.
Reliability wise it's not been too bad, the biggest problem was with the central locking not working on the passenger door (which didn't fit very well, either bad workmanship at factory or perhaps a dodgy repair), and the power steering suddenly cutting out once or twice. The engine hasn't had any major faults -yet- but it has a tendency to get hot every now and again and likes to drink oil.
Inside, the car has a nice interior and is pretty well laid out; the seats are pretty comfy. However, there's very little room for the driver (ok if you're short like my sister, but anyone 6 foot or taller is going to have trouble!) and in the back... well, if your passengers have legs they won't fit in!
Personally I don't like the way the car drives, but that's just my preference (never did like power steering). It does handle well round corners, but you feel no r
esponse from the road through the steering weel, and even less through the pedals. When i first drove it i had trouble with the gears because there was no feeling in the clutch. However on the plus side it is very quiet at speed and (once it's taken a while to accelerate) can cruise along quite happily at speeds that wouldn't impress the local plod.
Security is quite good, the car came fitted with a keypad immobiliser from the factory. My sister also fitted remote central locking as well, which was relatively easy to get in. I wouldn't say they're a target for theives because being a modern car they are more likely to have an alarm or be harder the get into (more likely to pinch Novas like mine!!).
As mentioned earlier, you can pick up cheap second hand ones, but watch out for thrashed boy racer ones or badly repaired examples. Insurance however can be a problem. Although it's only group 7 it has got the stigma of being a fast (hmm, dunno where that idea come from) boy racer car, if you're a bloke then you will have trouble trying to insure it.
However, girls (i.e. my sister) will have better luck. For them i think it's a good car, if -without wanting to sound sexist- they're looking for something that's a bit sporty and simple to drive without much effort. But you'll get bored with it after a while as the drive is boring, and the value will more than likely drop vastly. I'd much rather be in my Nova.

Yep me too anyday... heres one on a sax i found quite funny This guy needs a pat on the back!!
General Comments
I own a '98 Citroen Saxo VTR which I love so this review may be a bit biased. Firstly I’d like to comment on other peoples reviews. Apparently the car is not viable or practical if you are tall? Well I am 6’ 4” and find it big enough. Also yes, most of them are owned by ‘boy racers’ but we’re young and for most of us this is our first quick car. If I want to stick on a big bodykit and lower it so it won’t go over speed bumps I will because it is my car and only me will have to live with it. After all, were all entitled to our opinion!
The cars forte has to be its bang for buck. I bought mine 6 months ago for £2,500. I previously had a 1.1 Peugeot 205. Compared to this my Saxo was amazing! Had quick acceleration in 1st and 2nd, and handled well. Its not blisteringly quick but what do you expect for the money and insurance group? Since having my car I have up rated the suspension and fitted racing wheels. My car now handles better than many new ‘performance’ cars such as VW Golfs and Astras. The handling at speed is a bit twitchy but after all it’s the same suspension setup as a base model Saxo. I believe the 205 to be the best handling 80’s ‘hot hatch’ and think the Saxo has continued this into the 90’s and 00’s. You cannot beat a Saxo VTR if you want an affordable, nippy and good looking car. At the end of the day you get what you pay for! Pay sports car money and you’ll get a sports car, but don’t knock the VTR because it’ll easily, with a few tweaks, embarrass cars worth 4 or 5 times as much on a track.

I have W reg saxo furio and a 07 c2vts, they both have good/poor points, the saxo sits better on the road & seats are more comfortable, the c2 seats are much harder. the suspension is softer on the saxo, c2 is set up "hard" compared to the saxo.
Of course the c2 is much faster all round than the furio (nearly double the hp?) for getting somewhere fast I use the c2, but for a slower and more pleasent ride its the saxo every time, and the saxo looks better than the c2 imho.
