Default 16v Standard component limits... (Rods, rod bolts etc)

Morning!

Just wondering - Anyone know what sort of limit standard components start failing... ie. What revs are standard rods and bolts good to, when it'd be a good idea to fit ARP rod bolts...

Also what revs standard valve springs and lifters can take.

Cheers, Dan

8.5k is usually ok on std bottom end, the std head is only good to 8k though anyway on standard lifters and valve springs.

10k is the upper limit of the bottom end, the standard lifters are the things that go on the top end, 7900rpm is a safe upper limit there.

Realistically you'll need cut out pistons and all that malark above 8k anyhoo so best to go for forged pistons there

Reason for asking is I'm starting a low budget ghetto turbo build - Trying to keep forged pistons and Megasquirt as the only 'big' spend out as I can get them stupidly cheap.

Was just looking to raise rev limit to somewhere around 7800-8000 to get a little more usable power in case the turbo doesn't tail off, all depends on how it goes though

if going turbo definatly use ARP rod bolts if keeping standard rods, small spend at £70 to stop a bolt letting go and trashing your pistons
