Try AutoGlass, and if your Fully Comp on your Insurance, it won't cost you anything.

Dad works for a major glass company and says the techie cant guarantee to get rid of the crack/chip but he should have said how much less visible it will be before he did the repair. But it still should have sealed it so it 'shouldnt' spread.
Depending where it is and how visible it is, ie if its in the drivers line of sight it may fail the mot.

would well annoy you being able to see it though, would be the same as a small scratch on your paintwork, nothing major, but you look at it every time you get into your car

It may decrease the size of the chip me thinks, but when they repaired mine, within about 10 hours an HUGUNGOUS crack appeared across the top of the windscreen!

Think it depends on the size, but a crack will just be sealed so water cant get in and temperature change (contract and expand) wont cause it to grow. (i think)

I had a crack repaired and it was still there, but when you run your hand over the glass you cant feel it. I think thats all they can do, I thought the same about mine when it was done but everyone ive asked said its not always possible to remove them completely(and mine was quite big). It stops it getting any worse and splitting the whole windscreen though!

yes because water gets into it and then turns into ice which expands, making the crack worse.... therefore they seal it...
i was going to get the whole screen replaced but it's £550 for my civic. and i havnt got windscreen cover on my insurace for some reason, but i will defo put it on when it's up for renewal
