Default random orbital sanders/polishers for use with air compressors

would a random orbital sander/polisher for use with an air compressor do the same job as a UDM/PC?

do they work on the same idea so that you wont burn the paint?

apparently they are faster but more dangerous if you don't know what you are doing, so i wouldn't do it and use a UDM if your not sure

i've got a 50L 2HP compressor.

a random orbital sander/polisher is completely different to a grinder though.

i havent seen any with accurate speed control so that may be a problem?

its enough for small jobs, i've already used it.

your right though, it may run out of puff trying to polish a whole car unless you did it very slowly but its not like you polish a car quickly. it takes time.

i just wondered if it was a cheaper option before i blow £150+ on a proper polisher. i think i'm just going to have to bite the bullet and buy it. i'm going to need it as i plan on doing quite a bit of spraying soon.
