5 series for these reasons,
A the m3 is a cat D
B the 5 series is a Diesel so 55k is low milleage

M3 for performance, the 530d are goo aswell, have got some real pull... but i would say is much less of a performance than the m3... Both nice cars tho!

Would have an M3, altho not that one. No point really comparing an M3 to a diesel as it depends what you want from a car. If you want a tractor sounding saloon by all means go for the 5 series, if you want a proper car go for the M3.

Maybe not a tractor but an industrial machine non the less. I just prefer petrol power and would only consider a diesel if times were hard.

Personal preference, the derv i was in last night was as fast as fook,
535d 5d Auto 0-60 is 6.3secs & limited to 155 mph with 281 bhp as std
M3- 0-60 5.0 secs Top Speed 155 mph but 338 hpssss
So its a second and a bit faster lol

530d without a doubt.
I'd much prefer having the fuel ecomomy and the power, then just the M3 extra power.
