My Saxo wont start after new clutch! Any ideas?
Now then. The thrust bearing went on my sax last monday. As i had to get to the thrust bearing the gearbox would be off so i thought i might aswell change the clutch too.
After towing the car to a mates house we stripped the engine bay to get at the 'box. Airbox off, battery off, both front wheels off, shafts out and other bits of engine that was in the way.
Now, we changed the clutch, fitted the new thrust bearing and then went to put it all back together. After getting everything back on, 'box, battery, wheels etc, we lowered the car and tried to start it. Nothing. Not even ticking over. The lights come on the dash, all the electrics are working so its not the battery.
Between an army of us we can't diagnose the problem. I've had lads saying, gearbox earth wire, solenoid wires, starter motor, fuel pump, immobiliser chip and a whole load of other things that could be wrong!
I'm in dire straights, tearing my hair out!
Please help lads! Any info would be appreciated! Cheers

TDC sensor tells the ECU when to ignite the fuel, usually at Top dead centre. Anyway should be on the front of the gearbox casing right next to the engine block should be a 10mm bolt holding it in. My guess is its been damaged or maybe not even connected

Ok first of all its not turning over?
when you turn the key it doesnt make any noise?
Have you checked there is a feed to the starter, and that all the wires to the starter are connected because the starter is bolted to the gearbox which would have to have been taken off to do the clutch.
There should also be an earth connected to the gearbox.
Hope this helps

This happened on my mates car when his realese bearing went. Asuming you've connected everything up right, i would ask have you tried jump statrting the car. Thats what my mates needed. Seems simple, but just because the lights on the dash are working, it doesn't mean that there is enough charge in the battery to start the engine.

Bad earth somewhere or disconnected wire. Check all earths around the gearbox mate.

I had this before when replacing my gearbox it turned out to be a bad connection on the positive terminal of the battery, check the battery terminals and clean them up also check the clamps for the feeds to the battery and make sure they are nice and tight and no loose connections.

Dash lights come on, airbag light, battery light, etc, but then when i turn the key another click, nothing. This guy from work i asked said it sounds like there isn't a feed from the starter or there isn't a feed to the starter, is there any chance that the wires could've been switch and it wired up wrong?

Also i've tried bumping it. That was first thing that came into my mind when it wouldn't start, flat battery. That didn't work.

Sounds like the starter but to be sure:-
To check for a feed to the starter. take the Positive Spade Connector (Red Wire) and use a test lamp or multimeter on it. Get some one to turn the key and if the Test Lamp lights up your getting a feed which means the starters cunted.
If it doesnt light up it may be the ignition switch.
