Default should i have something connected to this

Ive just ordered the thermostat, green plug and the coolent temp sensor blue with grey rubber as my car drives fine but wont tickover without stalling if i leave it for 5 minutes etc but i notices i had this brown plug with nothing connected to it. Does anyone actually know what it is and if it should be connected. Its on a w reg Saxo VTS so the same engine as the 106 gti.

Cheers
Mitch

Air flow sensor, I've had this before, connect it back upto the switch on the air intake pipe as at the moment the mixture will be wrong and that's why it's cutting out.

Sorry I don't and I'm on a work computer so I wouldn't be able to. If you follow the air intake from the front of the car it will lead to the rear of the engine look in this area it will be a 2 pin plug I believe mounted in the piping, sorry that's the only way I can explain it, hope it helps!
