Just started a new job and its an hours extra driving every day.
Not keen on the petrol im forkin' out for.

Wondering what diesel you would buy for say, 3k?

You won't even get a golf sdi(1.9 non turbo, over 20s 0-60) for £3k so it's a shit suggestion. the mk3 tdi is shockingly slow, old, ugly, useless around corners and a depressing car to drive.

You will get a 306 hdi for £3k, in fact you'll get the 3 door sport with basically gti6 suspension, interior etc which will be a fun car to drive, be comfy, nice looking and cheap as chips to run.
