Right, bit random and prob. won't do anything about it but i am a little confused.

I'm an estate agent and even if i do say so myself, a good one. I recieved a phone call today from a nice woman called Sarah telling me that i have been nominated for the "Estate Agent of the Year" competition. Obviously this was quite pleasant and after talking to a randomer last night who's brother had been entered into the competition it seemed quite interesting. She sent me over the details via e-mail.

Anyway, to enter is £150. Which is alot of wedge at the moment with the current market etc. I really want to give it ago but something's telling me not to bother. If i won, which would be a big if i'd pretty much be able to get any job in any estate agent but there is alot of competition about and there's not a huge chance i would.

Would you enter?

Forget that Dan... Find me a sweet house in Manchester and force them to sell it me for 50k.

PS I dont know... sounds like a money maker to me, but you know the in's and out's better. Congrats for the nomination

Thats the thing, it does sound a money makes but it's covered nationally in the Sunday Times which isn't a mug paper. The associated companies aren't mugs and it seems pretty legit.

well i outsold every other estate agent in the company last year and have numurous thank you letters and clients who come and say hi all the time? Obviously i can't say i'm the best as i know of some great ones around but i know i'm not shit.

I'd say go for it.
If you win, then you'll have so many more options, career-wise and life-wise.
If you dont win, then its not the end of the world. Its a fair bit of cash, but worth a punt, I'd say.

If you dont enter, you'll never even know whether you could have won.

thats a tricky one i would stay away but if you won as you said could get a good job but whats your chances of winning? did you ask who nominated you and why?

yeah, a lady called Claire who i was dealing with for a few months put my name forward. Was the most random thing ever. I'm pretty wary of these things as i know that it's a trick recruitment agents use but for them to know her it's so random.

yeah, i was thinking though. How else would they make money? It must cost shit loads to put an event on like that and they don't seem to have a huge amount of sponsors.
