On-the-spot fines and points planned for careless driving
Just another money grabbing scheme tbh , Can see them using this as an excuse for a million things especially to younger drivers . Will do some good i admit but also still one of the many things out there thats slowly crippling the Car Enthusiast.

typical government! tbh some people deserve to be undertaken, hogging the middle lane on the motorway........ they should be the ones getting the fine for causing more traffic!!!

I think it's a good concept
but i can't see it working, the main reason is that some officers may pull you over just to be c**ts (ive met a few like that) where as others may pull you just to have a quiet word, meaning the whole judgement rests on what the officer deems 'dangerous'
and we all know what it's like trying to argue with a c**t of an officer...
theres a reason we have courts, it's to avoid situations like the one below:
just to confirm, i'm not anti-police. i'd rather they pull people over to do checks and what not to keep those dangerous off the roads, but to give them the power to issue points there and then? hmm, i think less people would be opposed to the idea if the actual legislation was clearly defined - iirc, the bill hasn't been passed yet, so it'll be come less grey in time

As the link said, it's not like speeding where the crime is obvious and clear cut, it's down to the officer's discretion and opinion. I can see this system being open to abuse.

Yup, loads of officers will abuse it for fun, if they don't like your car, or you they'll pull you...

its the same system as now, except they dont take you to court. Drive normally and this is not remotely an issue.
There are hardly any cops on the road anyway so you would really be unlucky to be caught..

Same feelings from me. Sometimes I do the most awesomest undertaking manoeuvres I should be getting hailed as a hero not as a criminal.

When I heard about this, I said that if people are give fines for undertaking, then the useless pricks that have no concept of lane discipline should be fined too!

Main problem i see is the definition of "Dangerous Driving" , Are we going to see Young Drivers or Other enthusiasts being pulled over and issued 3 Points and £60 for genuine mistakes by the power headed cops that are knocking about

Tailgaters and people that overtake in residential areas deserve it tbf. Ie, the 306 in the video on there. ^
/ People that over take in 30 zones deserve points, a fine and a swift kick in the bollocks.

Why are you lot saying it will be just young drivers getting done...
The new law isn't "On the spot drivers for young drivers"

Not saying it will just be those but going by how many "Random Checks" are done with Younger Drivers or people with modified cars compared to the woman checking her hair approching a roundabout i can see how this will plan out imo

So after seeing how easily a Section59 can be handed out for no reason or with no proof of their reason, theyre now going to introduce taking money off you as easily as handing out a 59?
Im a clean driver and havent got a 59. Id like to know what they would class as careless?

How do you know what the ratio is? I would love to see some figures on ages of people the police have done stop checks on, because so many people seem to claim young drivers with modified cars are pulled over more.

What if you were within the speed limit, exited an empty roundabout onto an emtpy road, but took a nice smooth line? If you dont take a nice line through the corner then you would have to slow down. Could they call this careless driving?
I just know how many people have Section 59's for doing absolutley nothing wrong whatsoever, ive seen it happen. So what if they start handing out these fines as easily as they do 59s? Seems like untill now theyve used 59s as an equivilant to what this careless driving is all about, so there must be a new difference.

In shitby the police pull you over on one bit of road, roundabout at each end, a carpark on one side, massive layby on the other.. You can sit in the carpark for hours, and all my years of driving, iv never seen them stop anyone over 25.. I got an on the spot fine for a numberplate light out.. That same night, a taxi with a headlight outdrove past the same police car at least 10 times, and not so much as a quiet word with him!
