Default stupotvtr:cammed 16v vtr, apex kit,4-1, pics *FLIPPED ON ROOF*

Well I've finally got round to doing a progress thread after owning my sax for over a year now.

I got the car in march 2008 for £2400 completely standard and looked like this

first things I did were T-cut the badges and get a new Alpine full speed cd player as I had hardly any money left after buying the car. I then decided to coulor code the grill insilver with black chevrons.

I fitted rainbow front components but didn't take into account that the components didn't reaily do bass so I quickly scrapped some cash together to buy a jbl sub and amp kit and made a faulse floor.

Lowering was quickly top of things to do on my list so I booked it into Complete Auto Solutions to get it lowered 60mm. I got some tinted rear lights from someone on here too. I also smoked the headlights and fogs.

I then went for power mods. I got a supersprint race centre section, piper 3.5" outward rolled backbox green replacement filter and a heatwrapped 4-1 GMC Motorsport manifold.

at some point I decided to steal a 206 ariel as it was shorter (seemed a good idea when drunk)

I then decided to get a vts gearbox for it.

when fitting the new gearbox which cost me £200 me and my friend noticed that the release bearing wouldn't fit so wee filed down the fork then noticed it wa just slightly bent in so we bent it back and that was that problem fixed (or so we though)

After a few months the I dcide I wanted the clutch changed so when I got the release bearing off it was on the edge of breaking. During putting the new clutch in I dropped the starter motor and it decide it wasn't going to work so my car sat for a few days until my new one came. Got the new starter fitted but the car still made the same noise but driving was fine.

I got a laguna splitter fitted with woodscrews lol

and also went to crail for 1/4 mile racing where the vts box gave me the edge over other vtr's. 16sec was my best time. I got the car RR
at star performance and it made 107.5BHP atfw not bad as it only had 90bhp to start with.

I refurbed my vtr wheels in a greyish black.

on the sax-p stand at knockhill:

I then needed to get the wheels balanced which nationl tyre fuked up by tightening my locking bolt to much so when I went to un do them the rounded!!
It then went to the garage to get the bolts taken off. The clutch decided it was gone at the same point to so I decide the vts box was coming off as it was braking the clutches. The vtr box went back on and the car went up for asle as I wanted a clio sport.

I got a few good offers on the car but then decided I was going to keep it for one more year......but I wanted it faster!

I got a quote from Complete Auto Solutions for an engine conversion and booked it in. They said I could use my vts box or buy another for £175 at which point I remembered what I had done to the ckutch for an the mechanic said that would be th reason the clutches kept braking! So I got an new vts box too. The conversion was done in a few days and I decided to get some Catcams 708's put into the vts engine before it went in.

I got the car back the other week with a few wee niggling problems but nothing to major. The gears are sill not right but I'll be heading back to the garage for a check over soon anyway.

I got a ITG filter and some ducting to the standard air box too.

The car as it stands now:

Car looks awesome, you pleased with the power of the new engine?

Future plans sound good!! A quick way to increase 1/4mile times is to reduce weight

yeah it was a big step from a quick vtr to a cammed vts the power is great just the lack of power below 4k catches me out on overtakes

when the cars on the strip it's usually stripped out but I love my tunes to much to keep it that way lol

Forgot to say I got a 15.197 1/4 mile at crail with the vts engine in

I know where I could get those boxes but they ain't cheap and would need rebuilt no doubt so I'll be sticking with the vts one for now. Will sorting out a remap get more midrange power?

A remap and a tweak of timing could give more midrange - would depend on the timing mainly

I'll leave it alone untill it gets mapped. I just wasn't used to it when I first drove it.

I'm thinking chipwizards is what I'm going to go for management wise as I think a predator is overkill for only running cams?

the car has got an oil leak at the moment (don't know where from) gears are sloppy (needs new bush thingys) and I discoverd ysterday when I was fitting a new gear selector that there was hardly any water in the radiator
