Default C2 VTS engine

Is it a straight swap? And how easy is it to get big power gains over and above the standard saxo VTS lump?

My thinking is, (new or low milage) C2 VTS lump, remove EGR, wild cams, standalone, decent box with diff

Budget of £4000 seem reasnable?

Almost a straight swap mate, you need all the saxo acilaries i.e. inlet etc which you can get off yours.

Its effectively the same engine as the saxo one, apart from bigger valves, and a weaker bottom end!

Your much better getting the jp4 head and sticking it onto your vts bottom end with some 708's (cam spacing is different so you would need the 708 equivalent for the jp4)

Sounds pretty straight forward? With the jp4 head will there still be room for tbs if I go down that route?

Of course

Basically call QEP tell them you want the 708 equivalent for the jp4 head,

The JP4 engine overall seems to be weaker than the J4.

Which is why people are keeping the J4 bottom end for example with mega spec engines.

I believe the crank in the J4 is a bit stronger, so obviously on a high revving engine something thats quite important.

If you go Jp4 as said you will need to use alot of the J4 engine you have now.

If you plan on getting headwork done etc... qep i belive prefer the old J4 head to work with as opposed to the JP

Yes,Not really worth risking it when you can just sell them and get the same in the jp4 spacing!

I thought that the J4 and JP4 cam lobe spacing is only very slightly different. Hasn't Tam's AX been running J4 (708's) cams in A JP4 head for over 18 months now with no issues?

But if you're buying brand new, it would make sence to get the proper JP4 fitment ones.
