Fault Code 0606
Hi.
Whacked a de-cat on the VTS a few months back and the engine management light popped on the other week. Took it to a garage who plugged in to the ECU and it came up with two faults:
1. Unknown Error (handy!)
2. Fault Code: P0606
Matey cleared them both and the lights gone out now.
Are they the normal codes when the second lambda is disconnected or is that something totaly different?
Cheers.

it could be the lambda sensor. but then im sure the sensor is before the cat? my e.m light never came on when i de-catted it best bet mate is to pop into your local citroen garage and ask them to tell you what the code means. they most definatley would know

if the is a fault with the lamba sensors it comes up on the diagnostics machine- lambda sensor fault, or o2 sensor fault. not unknown.

Cheers but I have a 2001 model with two Lambda sensors. One before (in the manifold) the cat and one after it. It was the second one that was removed because I de-catted.
Thanks.

no mate. i have a 2002 vts. it has 2 lamba sensors. putting the second in a sleeve fucks everything up. the second is what is relaying air/fuel mixture cack to the ecu. the first does the temperiture of your CAT.

The second one is now in a sleeve yeah.
From what I've read, the second lamda sensor is simply there to check on the efficency of the CAT. So if your CAT is fooked, up pings the warning light. Hence, when you remove the second lambda sensor to fit a de-cat, the ECU picks up something is 'wrong' and smacks on the Engine Management light.
Anyway, does the code 0606 relate to this or do I have another problem. The car runs fine with the light on or off (seems to make no odds) and with the lambda sensor in a sleeve it feels the same but I'm curious as to weather or not that error code is normal.
Cheers.

First lamda reads air to fuel, second one detects whether the cat is working. Second lamda is the one that's supposed to be sleeved, so it fools the ECU into thinking the cat is still there and working.
0606 doesn't look good, Google search points to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module....ECU), but if the car's fine now...

i dont even no why i bother trying to help people on here. you tell them whats wrong and they just ignore it.
the sensors are the other way around than what you mentioned. but one sensor checks the temp of the cat the one at the back is the most imporatant one.

This code often comes up when there is a decat fitted even if it is in a lambda sleeve.
The only time i have ever had this code is when there is no cat on the car, it will be a reacurring fault code but its nothing to worry about.

Awesome, thanks! Can put my little noggin at rest now.
Gouldy I appreciate the input but I think you've become a bit confused as to what lambda I had removed. Cheers anyway dude.
