vtr clutch fit onto 1.1 gearbox? much difference with 1.1 box?
as above, my mates vtr keeps popping out of 3rd and it used to crunch and whine! and gears were ropey to find, So after a 1.1-rallye gearbox now, much difference?
cheers

A 1.1 box will die rather quick as it's got a smaller diff in it
I would look for a vts box or an s2 rallye box if you wanna go shorter on a vtr
otherwise you will be too short imo

1.1 will be fine unless he's a burnout hero. s1 rallye is the shortest. i dont get what you mean by a 1.1-rallye box.

I wouldn't go shorter than an s2 rallye on the 6k limiter tbh
it's a case of you'll be shifting a lot sooner and tbh then your just loosing time on straights as your out of gear all the time

i have a 1.1 box in mine, occasional over a bump or what not it does spin the wheels but apart from that its better on the twisties as you can accelerate out of corners faster

All gearboxes fit any saxo. vtr has long ratios so you wil loose acceleration but gain in extra mpg due to lower engine speeds (so nicer on motorways). Swings and roundabouts really-it's all down to preference.

:Hijack:
So, what if you stuck a 1.1 box on to a VTR and hit the limiter (As i don't intend to), would it wreck the box?
And a VTS box is simular to a 1.1 box?, but can handle higher speeds? If i stuck this onto a VTR and 'Hit the limiter' it wound't do much damage to the box? But slightly longer gear ratios?

it wouldn't damage the box - the 1.1 box is 'shorter feeling' than a vtr box.

I know, what i mean is, there would still be more power in the engine and top speed, then the 1.1 can handle?

it wouldnt ruin the gears
it would ruin the differential
the 1.1 has a smaller diff with weaker internals in it
if you intended to put someting like a quaife in its a cheaper way to a short box as 1.1 boxes can go for as little as 20 quid
but if your not it could end up with a ruined diff in there and no drive

A 1.1 box is fine.
I've done numerous 1/4 mile and trackdays with one on an 8v with no worries. So as an everyday car that's not going to get used like that it'll be more than fine.
The only thing you'll notice is that because it's not got the 'sports ratio' gearset, you'll drop down 'off cam' so to speak (below 5k), on gear changes when you're up near the 16v limit (7200rpm), but only briefly.

i have had a 1.1 box on for last 7-8k miles, i love it. Went from VTR-1.4-1.1 box, and i could notice the difference between each one.
1.1 box sits @ 60mph @ 3k rpm in 5th.
80mph@4k rpm.
118mph @ limiter in 5th.
Also, when changing gears, the revs only drop down 1k rpm. E.g 2nd gear, change @ 5k rpm - 3rd gear starts @ 4k rpm, it's ftw =]

Whats the 0-60 like with a 1.1 box on (roughly). Quicker then standard parkers VTR time? (9 Seconds?)

On a stripped 8v with manifold, exhaust and induction, I got about 8.5 seconds.
On a stripped 16v with exhaust and induction, i've seen it at about 6.5 seconds.
Don't take them as gospel, but they're a guideline. And not just random figures i've plucked from mid air, before anyone accuses me of it. It all depends on varying figures and circumstances.
