Default Ignition wiring?

Can someone help me with a bit of simple wiring

I just need to know which wire on or near the ignition barrel only becomes live once the ignition is switched on

Basicaly im fitting some guages and only want them to come on when the ignition is on

Can anyone help

use a multimeter mate. keep testing wires till you find 1 that only comes on with ignition.

on what car mate. use a multi meter to be sure tho as the wiring can vary from year to year.

i have a haynes manual for my saxo but the wiring on the ignition doesnt match up as i found out today fitting my alarm
