You can get one now if your pockets are deep enough.

All the turbo are imports so you may have a problem. Try some of the online insurer and just make up some details to see how age effects the quote perhaps.

Be careful with online quotes as they'll quote for the Starlet SR and then you ring and tell them it's actually an import turbo and bam it's suddenly twice the price.

Also IMO they are like the EK9, a fucking stupidly over-rated car.

haha, not likely

a standard starlet will take an EK9, ive done it

£600 gets you 200bhp from the 1.3 in a starlet, and its funny watchin other cars play chase.

Lol I meant that like the 9 they are massively over rated.

Must admit though I never had one stay close to the civic.

i used to own a couple of decent powered 106's not TB'd or that, but cammed. and the standard starlet is just as good, and its soo easy to turn the boost up, you can buy a 250horse starlet now for sub 5k. and thats reliable, that will play with most things on the road.

I'm not saying you're wrong. But i personally find it hard to believe a 1.3 can run 250bhp reliably

you can pick a forged engine up now, drive in drive out with the forged engine, for £1800, obviously you will need the turbo kit to run bigger power, but that forged engine with a decent turbo setup, and decent management is no different to the any other car, if its setup correctly, its will be reliable.

its a turbo engine to start mate, it runs 210 horse without being forged, there are over 400 horse starlets. altho i believe they might run the 1.5 paseo engine. there are 1.3's running big power aswell.

bit more than that, need the standard mani ported, or an uprated mani, and need a uprated intercooler, but thats all thats needed for 200bhp.

Great little car in standard trim but all this talk of power is a different thing. I have only ever driven one very fast one but it was a right nightmare to drive. Its not really the sort of car that's good for B roads or track days. Even ¼ mile was different just for the sheer amount of torque steer. Personally if you are after a fast car I would not bother. They may not all be like that but i suspect it would be very hard to make them really happy with such power.
