Not too sure on the exhaust thing as a few people I know run side exit systems but that plate recess is as there is no illumination for it.

Sagaris has a cover over the exhausts for obvious reasons. If anyone touched or brushed those exhausts by accident in a car park for example, they could probably sue his ass off
