Default New owner needs help

Hi All,

Pls be gentle with me but i`m a new owner of a 1.6 vts Saxo.

I seem to have a major problem in the fact that as soon as i get down to less than a 1/4 of a tank of petrol she starts cutting out especially after giving her some whelly and after driving around roundabouts.
Then if i leave it for a few moments she will run again for another few hundred metres.
So long as i have more than 1/2 a tank full this does not happen.
I think this may be due to a weak fuel pump but am not sure.
Can anybody give me any advice on this matter.

Thanks Bob

Yeah fuel pump would be the 1st place to start i would say. If that doesn't solve it, you may need to look into injectors as they could be clogged up.

Sounds like a faulty sender tbh mate, showing you've got more petrol than you actually have.

Means a new fuel pump.

Fill her up to the brim and see if it still happens, also check to ensure that it displays the correct fuel level

Had the same problem as this on mine. Would display correct fuel level for ages, then just sit at half tank until it hit the reserve, then would show a quarter of a tank.

Thanks for your help guys i think i`ll get hold of another pump and try that.

The gauge seems to work fine.
It happened yesterday when the gauge hit about 1/4 of a tank so i got a gallon and stuck that in.

That solved the problem last time a day or 2 ago.

But i Still got the same problems

So i managed to get to a garage after the car cutting out twice on me and put another 20 quid in and the car as been fine again since.

Cheers Bob.
