The Lake District...
Right guys,
Following on from my previous thread...
Who has been to The Lake District? Where did you say? What did it cost? And what is nearby?
I'm basically after suggestions on nice places to stay. B&B's, Hotels. don't mind.
Would be nice to be near a quiet village pub OR even in one
Cheers guys n gals.

Lots of nice things to see, lots of nice little towns, cafes, good scenery, it's tranquil and peaceful, good place to go to get away from stress and just relax.
Or if you feel like being a bit of a rebel, you can drive over some passes, they are good fun, and lots of scenery...

Went for a week in late June/early July in 2009 when we had that hot weather. Fantastic place-we stopped at Uni of Cumbria-Penrith Campus. It was in the arsehole of no where and the accomodation and food was fantastic.
Pub was around 2 miles away through very scenic countryside and walking back at 2.30am down country lanes was FTW! No cars whatsoever and it was silent as anything-until we came! There was even bats flying over our head!
Loads to do- we went to Castlerigg Stone Circle, Kirkstone Pass, Ambleside, Keswick, Ullswater, Brothers Water, Bassenwaith Lake and a load of other places.
I went with uni and it was bloody fantastic- I would go again at the drop of a hat.
In short-GO!
