Default Which tyres?

Looking at getting some steelies for the S, not sure what treads to get for them though?

I want a good grippy tyre for blasting down the back roads but that will be long lasting as the majority of the 20k a year I do is on motorways, only a few k are driven enthusiastically on the b roads, with a few possible FCS track slots thrown in.

Any recommendations on what to go for and the best prices?

James

I'd go for uniroyal rainsport 2.

Just fitted some to my vectra, they feel great and came with 8.5mm tread depth which is a huge amount.

I've always been a fan of t1-r toyos, but having tried others, the sidewall on the t1-rs is pretty soft.

I'll be going rainsport 2 when the tyres on the Saxo need replacing.

I used to be the same with T1r's but i really dont rate them anymore!

Rainsports are good and last ages! Other tyres to look at would be michelin pilots, cost more but last long.

Yeh heard of the pilots lasting ages though but at over £100 a corner fitted its hard to justify them tbh...

Rainsports sound good though...will 50 profiles be ok instead of 45's lowered 30ish mm on Billie Group N's? As the 45's are 50% more expensive

Yeh you should get away with a 50profile with no worries.

I've run a 55profile on the front of mine with no real rubbing unless on full lock so 50should be fine. If I was buying tyres for mine and planned on doing a lot of miles I'd go 50 profile due to the cost

Sounds like a plan then!

Just over £40 a piece on cam skill, i paid virtually that for budgets on my VTR rims last year

£40 a tyre sounds good !

The unisports do come recommended from people. Pity they cost £100 a tyre when you have 18" wheels
