Default cold air feeds ? what you got ?

Raceland induction kit :

I have got a Raceland enclosed induction kit on my car, the idea obviously is to feed the car with cold air .

But how does it when it mount behind the slam panel ? So what are the options to improve on this ?

1. fit a cold air feed to it

2 . Cut the front grill & slam panel to let the air through

The car deffo felt like it lost top end power with it fitted , but gained more bottom end.

What have you done for cold air feeds ?

I've cut my slam pannel, doing a deslatted grill so there's no mesh etc etc to interupt airflow

can't tell you if the feed is any better than a raceland induction as haven't drove car with the hole in slam pannel with BMC, but will find out..

Cut some holes in the top of the enclosure mate. When my mate had his cammed at chipwizards somehow managed to find 6bhp after cutting holes in the top of the enclosure.

Or make an airfeed like on the K&N Gen2, a pipe/scoop draing air up and into the bottom of the raceland enclosure again cutting a hole out to feed the air feed pipe into it.

Or you could cut holes in the grill like i've done.

ive thought about doing this but cant find a decent route for the pipe. the only way i can see is that it goes straight down by the battery then back up to the fog but this will hang too low imo and u wont get a decent flow through it. how have u done yours?

Thats how mines run mate, its vertical for a fair while to help stop water and debris getting to the filter.
Im not sure that its a fantastic setup tbh.

Been thinkin bout doin something similar to mine to go with the home made open code set up as atm its pullin air from just behind the slam. I was playing with the idea of running a feed from the fog light hole like scholesyy but wasn't sure if it'd flow enough

Just ran it to the hole in the slam panel at the bottom right. Attached it with a few cable ties. Gets prenty of air from the lower grill and Ive removed my fogs too.

that looks good
i would drill some large holes along the slam panel.

stright in to the mouth of the filter, match them with holes in the top of the grill, but on the grill id put some mesh, to stop idiots stuffing things in there

Take a Raceland cut it, so that you've got more open surface, hang the radiator low with 2 alloy pieces, and hammer the inner C-profil of the brace behind the bonnet. With that mad the air will flow directly into the scoop even with a closed bonet.

i removed all of the pish from the standard vts air box, so all i was left with is the box and elbow to the inlet, i got hole of some silicone race brake ducting that was a wee bit bigger than the intake hole on the bottom of the airbox, then i placed the ducting over that and used some heat shrink tubing to hold it in place, then i ran the pipework to a hole in the front panel that i made and secured it in place.

the result is a direct ram air feed standard box, with a pipercross panel filter.

i have had many different airfilter setups on my car and i can honestly say this feels the best, imo the standard box disperses heat well, it was designed to.
most after market setups dont, they may look good but can suffer from heat soak, being right about the manifold etc.

the more cold air you can get into the engine, the better ;D

would be interesting to see what the difference would be between mine and a green cotton or raceland?

in an ideal world, i would love a procomp carbon ram setup, but until then, mine will do
