I've only recently started watching UFC but damn what have I been missing. Cant really comment on the fight above but really cant wait to see it. Brock sounds very confident mind.
Saw the Dan Hardy vs Carlos Condit fight yesterday, OUCH!

i was not expecting the ko from carlos on dan hardy and with the brock and Velasquez fight i do think cain is a very good fighter but the size of brock and if it goes to the ground and brock on top its over

Sorry, I take it everyone who his posting in this thread watched Lesnar vs Carwin yes? Unless Brock returns to the absolute animal mindset he had in his first UFC fight, he's just gonna be another ordinary fighter. He only won that fight because Carwin gassed, everyone saw that Brock Lesnar doesn't like to be punched, and Velasquez is probably going to punch him... And it's not like he can't punch.
I don't know, I don't think Brock is gonna have this, he looked tentative against Carwin, and even since Mir submit him, he's calming down, trying to approach his fights in a thoughtful manner, which doesn't involve him bum rushing in, I think he's getting put to sleep.

yes i agree with you on the carwin vs. lesnar fight, lesnar got owned in the first round, but seen as he has never been out of the first round his cardio was not that good and he would have won the fight if he didnt gas.
cain vs. lesnar, if lesnar takes it to the ground i think its over and if they stand i dont think cain has the knock out power to ko lesnar becuase carwin rocked lesnar but didnt ko so brock can take a punch

Soooo many noobs posting.
Lesnars size will be a hinderance in this fight. He had trouble keeping Couture down, what makes you think he'll be able to throw Cain around? Plus Velasquez's cardio is never ending. The longer the fight goes the harder it'll be on Lesnar carrying 300lbs around.
Cain's hands are far superior to Lesnars too. And he doesn't curl up into the fetal position everytime he gets tickled

I think dont know who will win, but everyone saying how bad Brock did in his last fight well LOL...
Did everyone forget that was his 1st fight for a year, and only 5/6 months prior to that fight he was on his death bed in intensive care in the hospital? Think people dont realise how much effort he had to put in just to get fit, nevermind ready for a title fight in the UFC. He took Carwins punches, came out and finished him. He will be 100% in this fight so expect to see a very different fighter.
Also Ortiz will win, even though hes a cunt I believe he will have too much for Hamill

Lol'd at the fetal position comment, I was talking to my mate yesterday and used that EXACT same description. I'm with you on this one... and even if it goes to the ground, doesn't Velasquez have a good ground game as well? I just think Brock's only chance is absolutely brutal ground and pound or KO in the first three rounds, or he's over, and even then, I think he has an equal chance of LOSING in those opening rounds!

I absolutely acknowledge that Brock was on deaths door not long before that fight, but I truly think he's a changed fighter. He was thanking God and all sorts after that fight, he's lost his bad ass edge. I think that illness has probably made him an all around more tentative person, and it seemed to show in that fight, and after it... As for taking Carwins punches... he survived them, just about... I wouldn't say he took them in a good manner, if anything, it just made everyone realise that he doesn't like being punched... I personally don't think Brock WON that fight, Carwin lost it, if you get what I'm getting at...
As for Ortiz, I can't see him winning. I really hope he does, but I can't see it... hasn't won since what, 2006? Almost a year since his last fight, just can't see it...

Yes and no, but tbh how many people took Carwins punches and survived past the first round in any of his previous fights ? ZERO
I think it showed how tough that bastard is, and the size doesnt matter, hes proven he can carry himself around and not get gassed. He moves fast like a middleweight aswell, hes just a freak. Thats why its such an exciting match up I really dont know who will win. Then the winner will face Junior Dos Santos, another beast.

I know all about Lesnar's illness but that doesn't take away from the fact that he has no boxing technique. Don't get me wrong, he's a 300lbs monster that would knock anyone out if he connects flush ala Couture but 9/10 times technique triumphs over brute strength. It might sound contradictory to what I'm saying but I think Lesnars only chance is landing a straight right hand early on.

I just realised I've been following it since UFC 40, when Ortiz fought Shamrock... that's what plucked my interest lol. Part of me wishes it would remain a bit small time though so you don't get a shit load of fan boys and ignorant people jumping on it who just want every single fight to be a brutal slugfest...

I'm gonna sound like a dick now but meh...
I've been following this sport from the very start in 'The mile high city' which is Denver iirc at UFC 1 till the present day with the exeption of 10ish-mid 20's. My brother brought home the very first few on VHS when I was tiny. My whole family have been boxers so I've been involved in combat sports since forever. I honestly feel like I'm witnessing/witnessed the birth of something awesome. I'd swap the UFC for Pride anyday though

I saw my first UFC when I was about 10years old, my cousin had it on VHS lol, UFC13 when Vitor Belfort was 18/19 years old and a heavyweight and smashed through the then peaked Tank Abbott, Belfort has been my favourite fighter ever since.
I missed a few after that up until UFC22 Tito Ortiz v Frank Shamrock, got that one on DVD and a few other old ones
Then it was a case of getting the results on line before broadband came out and renting it once it was out on DVD.
But since Tito and Chuck 1, I dont think ive missed an event
