Default ????? fan etc

aware of this when i got the car - have posted before - but developments have occurred!!! - to recap. temp light on permanently, fan runs all the time even when ignition is off. not over heating, water ok etc. dad has discovered that the thermostat has been removed!!! what is going on - any ideas. is there a problem with the fan running the whole time anyway?? dad wants to put new thermostat in - but my point is that the previous owner took it out for a reason - slighly worried about what will happen once he puts the new one in. aaarrrghhhh!!!!!!!

put a new one it it wont do no harm to the engine. a thermostat is ment for a an engine and is deisgned to open up when the water gets hot and closers when cold and it might stop the fan from being on all the time. taking the thermostat out can cause problem but u can run a car with out one so just give it ago mate

If your temp light is on and the fan is running but you're not boiling up, sounds to me like your temp sensor is knackered.

Put a new thermostat in and replace the temp sensor.
