Default how can i tell what engine my saxo has in it?

i want to know if the engine in my vtr is a silver or black top and what the bhp is as standard. is there an easy way to tell? is there literally a black or silver component under the bonnet that identifies the engine?

cheers

Is the coil pack bolted on the the spark plugs or has it got HT leads? My guess would be a silver top if its Mk2.

look at ECU, if it got one plug coming out of it then it mk1 (90bhp) if it has 3 plugs then it mk2 (100bhp) being a v reg its likely to be single plug (90bhp) 3 plugs didnt start till x reg at the earliest
