The Ultimate Saxo - S4XO D
I do have a thread on here, but its about 140 pages or something, and had not been updated in two years. Put it up for sale, was stripped but today all the interior went back in. Not sure what to do
Quick summary on it, incase anyones interested in it
Copied from Shed...
Right, here it goes, my own spin at a progress thread
First up I Started out with an 2001 saxo vtr as my first car, loved it done a few bits nothing major, but when starting new job decided I would sell car and then at some point buy another car to have as a toy to use on the odd weekend and track days, before I joined navy I was just looking bout at some cars up for sale with no intention to buy but i came across a two tone saxo vts, limited edition with only 250 made in the s format. Being local I went to have a look and instantly knew car was for me, I took it for a little spin, there was a few little imperfections and few bits I would change, had a chat with owner and next night went over and picked it up, 60k on the clock, part service history, £1900.
There was a few things I wasn’t happy with, well wouldn’t say unhappy but wanted to change it. First few jobs were clean up the bay, I don’t think it had ever been cleaned in its life, also standard discs and pads were up for a change, instead of going for standard pads and discs I went and bought some gti 6 brakes worth while upgrade as the standard vts brakes being shit! Also painted them yellow cos I was cool.
Before
After
Brakes
Then decided that the front end needed a change, I needed to make the car my own, put my own stamp on it, so out came the lights and painted them, and there we have it sports fans, smoked lights
Next job was to tidy the body work, was pretty tidy when I got it but it wasn’t up to my standards. Being colour coded is just wrong for me, only on certain colours does it look right, So it was in for delock, debadge, wide mouth the front bumper and a general tidy up including the bumpers back to black, had used the body shop before and couldn’t complain at all
Now on to the interesting things, decided on suspension set up with the car being lowered 60mm it was awful, I hated it, so wanted some top notch suspension, after around 6 million emails with dampcave i rang up gmc and ordered the group n billies set, although later found out they are sprintline rear units. I also had the gmc 40m springs, but they were sold and some falkners springs were purchased, 180lbs and 250length I think. Next was bushes, settled with powerflex and fitted them all around, also with the lower engine mount and arb mounts. Omp upper and lower braces were also fitted. All suspension parts were put on at same time at the garage, if I had to upgrade again, I would have a crack myself, but at the time I was a noob with messin around with cars. I was away when they were fitted, came back following weekend and picked up car, wasn’t sure what to expect, was a lot higher than I left it, wondered if I had done the right thing, it was only a small drive home, but after going around 5 round abouts, I was very very happy!
Next up was some track wheels, didn’t want to use the s wheels to drive to track, hammer around track and then drive home on, ive seen too many tyres ruined on track days so I decided I needed some track wheels. I settled on some speedline chrono’s which were pretty much same colour as the bottom half of car which rocked.
I didn’t really know what to do next, as I knew I was goin away in a few months for 7 months I didn’t really want to spend loads of money when I could save when I was away. So I decided I would see why people go on so much about stripping the cars, so I purchased some cheap seats that came up, just went with some targa’s recliners I know, but wanted something comfy and couldn’t complain. Also went with some rudi carbon door cards. Loved it, although a little louder, I did like it, and could feel the difference.
I got bored and decided fuck it, why wait til when im back, it was far too long to wait! So I went for a manifold, gmc btb 4-1, and a dampcave btb exhaust. Fitted both and loved the sound
The next change I decided to go for was a mankee cheng xsi diff box, few pics from the man himself. I was having this built whilst I was away with work, spending your tax money on beer and prostitues, thanks for that I had bought a spare vts box for it to be built when I was away so that I didn’t have to faf around with dropping my box out and getting it fitted and waiting for it to come back, I also bought the final drive some Ryan, cheers to ryan and alex for all help with getting all the bits up to Mankee for me.

When I got back, I had a few bits laid around in the garage, so popped up to williams’ house and got them fitted, catcam 708s, also had cambelt and head gasket done at same time. As the engine was in bits, I thought it would make sense to get all that done. Also had btb exhaust to fit ( I sold the other one before I went away as I got an offer for it which I couldn’t refuse, plus was always going to buy another one when I got back, which is the best exhaust for the s without doubt! I also wired up a second fan which has a switch in car so that i can whack that on when ive been on track or on last lap to help cool engine down
So I got back from my travels, plenty of money, but after a while I got a bit bored of the stripped look, felt that as it didn’t get on track too much it looked stupid, so in went a side airbagged gti leather interior, I also cleaned up the bay again.
Next up was a bit of whoring, just under car and arches, few nice little pics for you.

Unfortunately I don’t have anything stating the bhp of the car, but I had the car mapped at a place called automark in stokesly, car came back with around 146bhp
Heres the bad boy gearbox, big thanks to ryan, alexr and of course mankee for this. I had two mates come up from hull to fit it for me, I learnt a bit and was very grateful for it, drove down to Portsmouth that night in it, was loving the car with the box and
cams at the same time the ge quickshift and x sport linkages were fitted.
Now me still being a style whore, the wheels just weren’t up to scratch, so I re sprayed the wheels silver, just for a cleaner look
Again more whore stuff, decided to take front end off and clean up the engine bay.
Again even more whoring, this time a trip up to James’ house for a go with his rotary and give it a right good clean, results were spot on, and if anyone in the Yorkshire area wants it doing, his rates are pretty good and results are even better
Next up after that was some asw pics with the man they call ad sayer, again if anyone wants car pics, this is the guy you need to speak to, again charges are good and pics even better
Decided again to get the debit card out and splash a bit more cash, lewismo/darkvts2003 sold me some group n engine mounts, some r888s were also ordered. 24mm arb and some cobra Monaco s bucket seats and 3 point omp harnesses. Fitted them all and was very happy, this time went with fixed bucket seats and wasn’t too arsed about comfort as long as they held me in on track I wasn’t arsed! But again the style whore came out in me again, sprayed up the subframes and ordered some new bolts from alexr. Also decided to strip the car again, at moment its still got the carpet and roof lining in, unsure if they will stay or go.

now some of you who have been to the ring and stayed at the apartments may recognise the gnome, he used to sit outside the lodge
also bought myself a helmet, borrowed one a few times but cant beat your own
the seats from ryan (sprayed the subframes and few other bits plus new bolts, so it all looked nice and shiney and clean
Also made myself a catch tank bracket, had the tank for ages but never got around to fit it.

And finally for now, two stickers that I think every shed member should have…
I think that’s about it for now, I do have some track pics which I will whack up, they are from Rockingham, Silverstone, Croft x 2 and The Ring

Cant be arsed putting track pics up
Ive now added Elvington and Donnington to the list above, not bad considering i spent around 5 weeks at home in last year
It was fully stripped, but as said interior has gone back in today.
I have a cage for it, but that will most probably go up for sale now, altho may keep it just incase Also have a baffle kit on the way and hopefully some 4 pots.
EDIT - how can i forget, its now running at 164bhp (motorscope) with gmc curved trumpet throttle bodies
Got them fitted in August, and done one track day, altho I spent 6 days at home between that time and start of June, track day went amazing, so many people coming over asking what it was and what it was running. Quite a few 'bigger' cars were left for dead

One of my favourite cars on the site. Don't be too hasty selling it mate - Saxos in this sort of nick/ with these parts are hard to come by!
