Yamaha R6 thread... new parts ordered :D! levers, seat cover and HIDs!
ladies and gents.
thought i may aswell make a progress thread for the 6, as im going to be modding it.
ive got a few parts on the wish list already! and some on the way already!
so here is how she stands currently
plans ; styling
rear seat cowl
remove rear pegs
flush mount front indicators and smaller rears.
remove the Yamaha sticker off the bottom
smaller number plate
and tidy up the rear end abit!
looking at some carbon fibre parts, such as front and rear huggers, tank side panels, and foot pegs.
also been looking as custom carbon fibre swing arms, to save ALOT of weight and add alot of performance as its what Rossi use's but they aint cheap!
performance ;
some shorty levers! possibly pazzo
ohlins damper
-1 sprocket on the front+2 rear *should get my 0-60 from 3.3 , to around 2.5 quoted anyway!*
induction to be sorted with a K&N race filter with fuel management adjusted
Full Akropovic Race System. *should see a gain of 11-15% on stock 133 bhp*
Powercommander
rolling road and re-map for smooth set up and for max output!
it should be standing stock at 133bhp at the crank!
and a special one just for some guys on here, should like it.
8k HIDS and Halo lights
ill be sure to keep you posted when things happen!

what about the warranty on it as I presume it's brand new ?
Does any of the modifying invalidate the warranty ?
Plans sound good though !! Bike looks awesome !

yeah its brand new...
the performance mods / engine side of things will set me back a few K as the full system is around 2-2.5 like!
so by the time i do that it wil be out of warrenty, of id have got bored and upgraded to an R1 lol.
it wont be dyno and re-maps till its on atleast 3k miles as it needs time to run in, polish it self, and be running nicely before i start that kind of work! so mainly its styling im going for first, as im happy with how it goes atm
so much for bodywork warrenty well, it wont cover me if i drop it ad damage it, so whats the difference in changes visual parts imo.
if i drop it and damage that, its only a few flush indicators and some scratched carbon.

ahh nah man, i didnt take it like you were lecturing me or anything lol.
its still like a car under warrenty... and you have to be aware of the consequences if it does go tits up. but this is why i wont even put different spark plugs in it, untill its gone around 3k if not more, so i know its all running smooth and well!
alot of people arnt aware bikes can be modded just as much, if not MORE so than cars.
i know people with bikes that have got bigger injectors / bigger carbs/ ported and polished internals, lightens pistons, fast road cams... if you think you can do it to a car, it can be done to a bike and with more of a result.
hell you can even get body kits for bikes too lol.

Nice mate. Thought the R6 ran more power then that.
Carbon swing arms are not a good idea on the road though really.
You do realise 2.5 to 60 is bsb speeds?

it comes stock at 3.2/3-8 depending how big your balls are! but as it does 84in 1st gear, its a case of just winding it back and hold on because it will be one wheel lol.
and iirc bsb is down to around the 2 mark.
the right chain, sprocket and the balls you can get it down pretty low! as the torque difference its greatly increased! but it will scream and rev alot quicker, higher and top end will be lost!
stock R1 is 190bhp and hitting 60 in 2.8
dont forget bsb / gp use 800/1000cc engines, so compare to the road stock equivalent there isnt THAT much difference.
there is always the busa that will do 60 in 2.5 stock without trying.

That is just plain nuts - verging on being dangerous on the roads ?! Do they have longer swing arms to try and help put the power down and keep the front wheel low ? But then doesn't this hurt the handling of the bike?
The R1 sounds like an awesome bike, would love one but I know for a fact I'd come off it at some point and don't want to risk serious injuries when i do, couldn't do it to the family.

how come motorbike exhausts give a gain of 10-15% when car exhaust don't really do this? Sounds a bit like strong advertising ?
that busa is plain nuts - god knows how he holds on
