Default Best way to put carpet in?

I just put the dash in first, then the carpet and im struggling to get the carpet into postion, do you think it would be a better idea to take the dash back out again, and then lay the carpet all in and make sure its in the right place and then resit the dash?

Advice please, as the carpet is so stiff!
