Default Spraying Grill Badges Help

I am trying to spray the badges on my front grill black. But after sanding them down for the last 30 mins they still wont lose the shine on them.

Would this stop the paint sticking to them? Or will it be ok? I dont want to start spraying and the paint just runs straight off and then not able to get a good finish.

Thanks.

Yeah I'm using wet and dry. I've got primer ready to do them, I just didnt want to start spraying and the paint not want to know. Will it be fine to put the primer on with the shine still there?

I've also just noticed Ive brought white primer instead of grey, would this still be ok, just mean I need more coats of paint afterwards?
