Default Engine 'hunts' from time to time

I've noticed over the last couple weeks tnat my engine seems to hunt when warmed up or after a short run. This seems to only happen for a minute or so then corrects itself..

I'm thinking vacuum leak or unmetered air getting in the manifold somewhere but cant see any split pipes.

I did however also notice a slight oil leak from the rocker cover.

Could be linked ort twoo seperate issues maybe?

Thanks as usual
Pete

The engine sounds like its kind of revving slightly up then down up then down althought there is no real reading of this through the rev counter.Bit like its 'labouring'

Apologies for the rubbish description mind!

This seems to happen only every now and again

If it was the idle control valve at fault then you`d notice the rev counter needle moving up and down. Not every saxo idle problem is the icv, look at things like the coil pack injectors being dirty etc. When was it last serviced?

Cheers Steve
Quite right could be a minefield of things but going to try the cheap fix first and make my way around if that doesn't work.

Have a slight concern that the car is a 99 plate Auto box and with only 27k on the clock may have been driven around almost too carefully as it was from new by an elderly lady...

Good service history and clean oil suggests maintenance was kept up.

Will give the ICV a clean anyway and change the rocker gasket and will report back if its solved to help others.

Cheers
Pete

On a seperate note (sorry cant edit my posts yet) any bad experiences with pattern part coil packs?

Only ask as i also own a Mondeo and I know from experience they are really coil pack fussy.
