Changing from the Saxo and want opinions
Hi,
Im looing in to moving on from the saxo. Although it served its purpose of cheap motoring im now wanting more quality and size!
The options so far are:
Civic Type R (Pre facelift)
This is because its a well built car good size and fantastic engine
Skoda Fabia VRS
Diesel so will save the pennies, fast and well built
Ford Focus ST
Again well built but with a 2.5 turbo im not thinking the economy will be good.
What do people think?

depends what sort of driver you are tbh.
civic you can play with and get alot more after market parts for it comapred to the others listed the mpg aint that amazing on them either due to high revvin engines so you need to boot them to get them really moving.
skoda fabia even tho its a diesel you'll be suprised how much it drinks the new diesel engines are a totally different breed to the older ones.
focus looking around 20-25 mpg boot it looking more at 16-18mpg usally less all depends on exterior temps, if its motorway driving or country lane.

yea i looked in to the fabia and the diesel says it can easily do 45-50mpg on the motorway so ill settle for 35 round town. I used to drive an Audi S4 that struggled to do 20mpg so when i say i want good economy im happy with anything about 25 really

i want a quickish, well built car that will make me want to drive it. I fell in love with a red type r but dont want to get brought in to that group of boy race (although i know i drive a saxo now) the VRs is a very understated car and the ST is a bit more like a family car.
The fabia is really calling to me though so i may just have to go give one a drive!

See what you like best. I think the ST might be a little big for my tastes but I do like them, especially as its roomier than the others

I've always liked the Fabia VRSs, can be made to look very aggressive in black and aren't sluggush

Interiors of the Fabia VRs are fukin horrid, only thing that really lets them down.
iirc they done a Special Edition with leather though.

I like the cream interior they have, looks ok. Get the vrs and map it. Better speed once mapped and drive it sensible and you'll get even better mpg

I think the only Type R to get is an EK9, EP3 will have the better engine but not raw enough overall. The vRS is good once mapped, and really nice in black but agree the interior really lets it down. ST is a bit bigger but looks well and it's hard to beat that 5 cylinder turbo sound Fuelling will be a bar steward. Hard choice to make, between the Type R and the ST for me

Has been my planned route of progession for years now.
Love it. Perfect for me.

clio sport 197
handle amazingly, VVT engine, reliable, very fun...
ticked all my box's for work and a fun car
or possibly megane?
Renault do have hothatches sussed at the moment...
Any of the cars you mentioned wouldn't dissapoint though, petrol consumption is not good on the petrols unless you go dirty D and get the vrs and map it up and have plenty of fun...

Leon B-)
i hate asking people what they think about other cars, the majority all jump on a bandwagon and tell you what they once heard from a guy, whos brother dated a girl, who had a son, who went to school with a guy whos older sister that that car.
best advice to give, is find your budget and then go try every car in that price range!
i had upto 25k to spend on a car, and i got my Leon FR, and i had tried Focus ST, Type Rs, Range Rovers, and Sports, Megane sports, 182,197s, 320/330s, mini cooper s, abarth 500, mx5, fucking loads!
and found i much preferred driving my Leon.
