Default Free weight workouts

Hey

Since I joined the gym I have just used the machines in my workout

I was recomended I could see better results using free weights as it is a more natural movement

At the start I was put off by that area of the gym as it was full of posers but now I am lifting decent weights I think I will give it a try

I just need to learn some workouts as I don't wana feel daft standing about

Any good links I could study

I was daunted by the free weights but in my gym, massive blokes bending the bars on bench press lol. But once your used to it, you realise the only time anyone really takes notice of what anyone else is doing is when they're going big lifting something heavy. Otherwise no ones really bothered.

If they are big/ripped or whatever, they worked to get it and most won't mind helping you out with your form and technique. I much prefer freeweights to machines it works you so much better too. First time I done some dumbbell chest press I couldn't keep the things in a smooth line. I had the power to lift it, just not the stability to do it properly.

Only downside is if your training alone you often need a spot and it's easier to fuck things up lol.

its probably hard not to look at yourself in a gym full of mirrors.

Granted, JJB is a bit gay though. one reason i'd never train there - you do realise you tar yourself with the very same brush - the "posers" are probably on another forum right now talking about the sweaty stick insect with a chip on his shoulder.

Good input again there mate

I am not the biggest yet although I wouldnt exactly class my self as a stick insect as im 6ft and vary between 15-15.5 stone. My last check I was 15.8 % body fat

Suppose the weight could be from that chip on my shoulder though

Any way

Had my first session on free weights today

Its so much harder to lift the same weight as I was lifting on machines. I am lifting lighter than before to get my form sorted but don't think I will look back

Thanks McGuire for the link
