Default gearstick wobble question.

hi i have a really wobbly gear stick. Im pretty certain its not right, car selects gear fine but obviously because of the wobbly stick, sometimes it feels a bit crunchy. I think my clutch is ok, but i ask a mechanic and all i get is 'its normal'. Like they Cant be arsed, Can anyone shed some light onto this for me please. Or perhaps list the possible causes of the stick having so much play... Even in gear.. Thanks.

Most likely gear linkages from what I have read on here, £40 for uprated ones from Kamracing

i had one guy look at them but he thought it wasnt those causing the problem. Apparently it was another thing, further up. And basically it was going into the gearbox if i remember right and it had quite a bit of play to it. He said when i wobble stick, Thats What moves. Does anyone know What that bit is called.

it was like a slightly bigger arm than all of the other linkages. I just remember looking right up past the linkages then he wobbled the stick and it had play. I think it might be selector then. I just remember it going into a hole and my mate said ihe thinks there would be a rubber bung in Theres Thats worn over time.

The selector doesn't have a bush on it, but might be worn badly..

Will most likely be linkages + bolt under gearstick..

Found a very helpful thread.. http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=262989

I know what you mean, its the arm that comes from the gearbox and connects to the longest gear linkage. It needs a weld blobbed on to stop the play, I think its this one that takes the most abuse

ill have a look through that thread Thanks saxova. Yeah s555Dan you might be right. I know it was Definately just a little further up from all the linkages and was also Definately going into something. Trouble is although pointing out the problem, the guy Didnt seem too arsed about helping me fix it. Unless it was a cover up for him actually not knowing how to fix it..... People do that a lot. Palm people off.... I'll have to speak to someone on here who's really good with saxos and ask them if they would take a look at it for me cause it makes me feel like my cars a bit clunky... Maybe Willsy or that lee fella could shine some light on it.

Is it really not possible to solve it with it in.... Cause i imagine its going to cost a fair bit to whip the box out.
