Default Help need a little info

im currently in the middle of making my car better and now the head gasket is gone so im taking this as a perfect chance to paint and clean up my engine bay.

BUT i wanted to know what is the best engine to swap my 1.1 spi for? i was thinking of a 1.6 bottom end inlet and tb with 1.4 head?

would this work if i get it from the same year car and same plug ?

i do have all the correct suspension and brakes just need to know bout the engine as i would like to change it and make a sleeper

cheers jay

why the mix and match of engine parts? a 1.4 head on a 1.6 bottom end is going to be like you trying to breathe through a polythene bag, the valves in 1.4 heads are smaller then the 1.6 so that's a backward step, just get a full 1.6 engine

He was bullshitting you.

The best engine to swap yours for is obviously the 1.6 16v from a VTS.

It's not just the engine though, you will need most of the VTS parts.

More of a ballache than it's worth from a 1.1 in my opinion though.

devil speaks the truth, with the price of vts cars these days you've got to be really into the car to consider a conversion, and thats coming from someone who makes money doing them!

i did think that, i would do a 16v conversion but its what everyone does and i want to be a bit different! so now im thinking of a 1.4 engine with 1.6 inlet?

would this be a simple swap? i know i need an unlocked ecu and full suspension!

Fucking about with engines it not going to give you enough noticeable power to justify the expensive. I would imagine the inlets are spaced differently so would need the head drilling to get it to fit?

Either stay with the 1.1 and buy a VTR/VTS or get one of those engines put in (plus the other parts) the start performance modding...i.e full exhaust with decat, manifold and enclosed induction kit would be a start but even though are not going to give you 'fuck me this is immense' power.

Gearboxes arn't my strong point but I think the VTS box would be better on a VTR engine if im correct?

Jason (Mandyslover ) would be able to do the conversion for you, drop it off to him and pick it up complete

Haha actually I grew up in Herne Bay, my family are from there!

Ahhh well find yourself a low mileage engine and get a haynes manual as a start.

Have an extensive search on here as most conversion questions have been covered many times.

Yeah my parents moved us to Dover when I was 10, hardly an improvement lol

Luckily Maidstone is awesome
