Default Oil leak: 2 cars in one night?

Hi guys,
I have a 55 plate zetec S and my mum has a 2007 Ford S-Max. Overnight both have developed a fluid leak (looks like oil, it's black and it's stained the drive). The fluid is dripping from the front arches, both sides, on both vehicles.. It just seems so strange how both can go overnight with exactly the same problem? It was -3 degrees last night so it wasn't exactly cold.
Could it be power steering related?
Any ideas why?
Thanks, Aaron

well i would say that the cold could have perished the pipes but both motors are new...
and take the powersteering resivor lid of and see if you have a loss of fluid.

Are you sure the sun hasn't melted the frost on both cars, then the water is dripping from the drain pipes down by the wing??

Well I wondered if it could just be screen wash or rain washing the arches. I've been out all day though (5am-3pm) so it hasnt really defrosted while it's been on the drive so it just seemed a bit odd, and the fact it's never happened before.. One of them is booked in for a check over Monday So we'll see what it says
Cheers guys

Whats it smell like? You could have both driven through something on the way up the drive
