you can do it, it will be bumpy and eventually your shocks will break, then you can upgrade them, better to upgrade it all at once though

ok mate,
as you guys know, im going for the subtle(ish) look, but looks is my goal, i aint too fussed about handling and performance, end of the day a VTR for a new first time driver is PLENTY powerful in itself.
So...
15" Rims, 45profile Tyres, Lowered 60mm Front, 75mm Rear.
How much arch work you reckon??
Should i just move neccessary bits and bobs, and completely remvoe plastic arch liners.
I am also considering going for 16's, but i LOVE slammed cars and 16 would bring overall height up too much imo.

wrongy wrong wrong.
Think about the profile you are putting on...
for instance i started off with 14's on 65 profile then gradually got to 15's on a 45 profile
the rolling circumference of the 15's and 45 profile is smaller than the 14's on the 65 profile... thus my car sits a couple of mm lower.

tbh matey lowering on just springs imo is just asking for trouble, the standard shocks were made to work with the standard springs, mixing them up will only upset the car.
The car may feel healthy but the bumper stops/bushes and rear bearing will be under a great deal of stress.
Also im pretty sure the 14" wheels come with 55 profile tyres!

I had some PI 60 mm springs on mine when I bought it. They were binned pretty quick. It'll fuck up your bushes, your dampers, your ride, your handling and even reduce grip. I'll also understeer badly and go into snap oversteer if you lift off mid corner, which will be very hard to control.

Yup, agree with all and 14s are generally 185/15/14 on the tyres

14s on a VTR are 55 profile.

I've got 60mm PI Springs on mine, just the springs and I've had none of those problems.
It's been lowered a year now and I'm still on my original shocks after 75,000 miles. No problems with bushes and dampners, and for a car lowered 60mm the ride isn't that bad at all. It's starting to feel a bit bouncy on the front end now but the shocks need replacing.
Handling is spot on, grip is good even on very low budget tyres. lol. I've never even heard of the make. Never had the car out of control when throwing it through corners
It's up to you really. I didn't personally see the point in spending money replacing the shocks when they were fine. I've got an extra year out of them. I'll uprate them when I replace them
I've got 15" wheels on mine and I get rubbing on full lock. Not enough to warrant arch work. Although I have now lost both my wheel arch liners. lol

You've never had these problems but your shocks are tired? I'd bet that the bushes are a touch fecked too. Handing is very much upto the driver, but you'd need to have a fairly limited experiance of driving good drivers cars to describe the handling of a 60mm drop as spot on

My shocks need changing because the car has done 75,000 miles and they have never been changed, the last year of which have been 60mm lower. They are bound to need changing. I'm sure the lowered suspension has resulted in them needing changing earlier but I've got an extra year out of them which I wouldn't have got if I'd changed them when I lowered the car. A yeah later they have gone.Wasn't a problem for ages. That was what I was saying. That it's up to him what he does
As you said handling is upto the driver but it certainly won't be fucked as you put it

and the bushes and bearings aswell, cause the chances are your gonna need to change them too! fact is, if your having it lowered @ a garage, you may aswell get a full kit, otherwise your paying twice for labour charges. If they fit the springs and lower the torsion bar then you pay for the labour, then you need new shocks 1 year down the line your paying again! might aswell get it all done @ once IMO! but to be honest i would never lower a car on standard shocks!
