Tools / tool sets/kits
Im looking at getting a tool chest/ big tool kit for use on my car and bicycle and use on on/off road bikes
I don't really no what to look for being a bit of a noob to tools I have a cheap tool cheats and some other bits but I want a decent tool set to be proud of.
What's the best tool kit selection wise/ brands & makes and with the best quality for use and long life? As I've broke a few Rachel's and tools in the past but if I'm spending a few ££ I want them to last and still work.
Any help or links to good kits or sites would help a lot.
Cheers in advance

I got Halfords Advanced Pro set. Most of the time they have a deals on like the one linked below. 120 piece, lifetime garuntee and the tools are good quality and comes in a nice carry case. Think they are a bargain tbh!

For once Halfords supply something good for a reasonable price! The tool sets in there are very much worth the buy, can't beat snap on but for the price and quality halfords is a good place to start looking for a large tool set.

occasionally the halfords 150 piece socket set comes up at £100. still managed to break a few smaller bits and have had to strip a couple of the handles down to regrease, but they are excellent for the money!

if its the pro ones, just take them into the shop and get them replaced
I have a dirt cheap Draper starter one. knackered the 19mm and a short extension on a wheelnut, otherwise theyre ample for the small jobs i do. If i were using them daily i'd get something a bit chunkier and harderwearing!

Halfords ftw for once.
We've had the Advanced set at work for about 2 years and they're still going strong.
I use our advanced tools a lot at home and they haven't let me down yet.

Halfords & machine mart are ample for home use really. If your buying from halfords try and get some one in the trade to go with you as a halfords trade card knocks quite abit of money off tools & boxes.

im lucky enough to have a decent collection of snap-on stuff, BUT i hardly ever use it now! im allways worried stuff will go missing or get lost its rediculous really, alot of the places i end up working arnt particularly secure so i got a cheap setup too, consisting mainly of clarke and halfords stuff and it does the job perfectly.
when i get my workshop back, il get the strapon back out where it can be locked up.
the clarke stuff is actually alot better than the halfords stuff and again lifetime warranty. pricewise halfords trade is a tad cheaper than machine mart,BUT they do vat free days quite often so a bargain to be had!
also the clarke rollcabs and chests are brilliant value for money. ebay also is a good place to pick up some snapon bargains

i have countless snap on ... yeah its good can really take a battering too.
but then so does my halfords kit. advantage with snap on - he comes to me. i think, thats about it.
i have two portable kits from blue point - both circa the 150 piece.
the halfords advance 150 piece
for the bikes, car and general use - cant fault them tbh ands eeing as they were around £100 each, its possibly the best money ive spent.
