Exclamation Help! Fuel Guage Problem..

Hi guys,

I replaced my dials in my Saxo 1.5D and I had to pull the Speedo, Rev counter and fuel guage needles off in order to do this.

However, now it's all back in, my fuel guage says it has just under half a tank, but the fuel light is coming on randomly. When I switch off the engine and start it up again, the light goes away.

What could the problem be, do I have low fuel or is the light sensor broken?

What would be the best way to ensure the correct place to put the fuel guage needle?

Help please!

Thanks!
Adam

P.S - I'm new to the forum!

try filling up the tank with fuel. fill it to the brim, then you know you have 45 litres of fuel in the tank. and then you can see if the gauge or the light is the problem

(if the needle is in the same spot, then look into what could cause this)

(if light comes on then look into what could cause this)

Hi Anthony,

I'm sorry but I'm not going to spend £50-70 to fill up the tank to find out if it is one or the other.

There must be a way of making sure the needle is in the right place??

May I ask if the fuel light and the needle are separate or are they linked to the same sensor?

Cheers,
Adam

Yes they are connected to the sender unit under the rear bench seat.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the suggestions, but after a bit of thinking I decided to fill her up! It turned out I'd put the fuel guage on wrong when I did my Dash Dials (custom made).

Just spent £65 filling my tank up - funny thing was I sat in the car park after I filled up and whilst I sat there the price went up by 1p!!
