Ive been saying this for years! But people seem to think they're good because they 'notice' a difference. Never seen any proof on any car of these having positive effects.

Has anyone ever done any RR comparisons with filters? Wouldn't it be a really good idea to do this?
Take a stock vtr and S down to someones RR and and try all of the ones mentioned above.
I'm sure a few people would offer their kit to try out for a few hours?
Then we will know definitively!
I have a BMC CDA on the S but purely because it was fitted when I got the car. There is no way on this planet I'd go out and buy one new. Overpriced IMO, fairly quiet though and no idea how it has effected performance? Doenst feel particularly quick to me, but mine has done 111k and feels tired.

In redline magazine years ago they did a test of about 6 types of filters on a mk1 tt
the biggest gain they had was with a panal filter, and lost power over the OE box with an enclosed lol.
save your self time money and hassle, just clean your OE filter. science dictates your not going to gain anything with a "performance" filter, but the added induction roar creates a placebo effect. which you may percieve as, OMFGZ ITS ADDED LIKE 20 HORSE POWERZ BRAH!!.

Why would you waste your time cleaning a panel filter when you can buy them for less than a tenner from the factors

I sell BMC and i can tell you the CDA is "The" worst culprit for loss of power in a NA car.
Everytime I see one I sigh.
