Default Clifford alarm :@

Bought my 03 plate vtr last Monday and the alarm was working fine for the first two days then it started deciding to play up.

When I press the button to lock the car it makes a weird noise from the back locks then 2 seconds later makes the same noise and unlocks, but the alarm is still active so if you open the door it goes off?

Anyone had this problem before or just got any suggestions for me to try, help would be much appreciated thanks :-)

Sounds like a central locking fault more than an alarm fault.

Central locking seems to be fine dude because I leave the alarm activated and lock my doors with the key now but it's just annoying having to press a button then lock my doors with key lol

Is there a Clifford technician you could call locally?

It does sound like a locking fault and not the clifford. Look up locking problems in the search as its a common problem with the saxo

But when I dont use the remote central locking and lock it with the key it's faultless :/

Sounds like a solenoid fault - the clifford instructs the solenoid to throw for either .8 of a second or 1.5 seconds (or numbers close to that). When the locks are in good condition (ie, new, greased etc) the 0.8 second throw of the solenoid is enough to lock the door. As the car ages, the solenoid needs to "try harder". Setting the clifford to throw for longer is another option - done via cliffnet wizard (installer edition only though iirc)

It could also be a bent rod from the solenoid to the door lock (will be drivers side door).

Check the lock mechanism is greased up (take door card off, grease everything that moves - use white aerosol grease).

It would be - your turning force with the key is much stronger than the force of the solenoid. That's why I think it's the solenoid at fault, or a bent rod.

But it's not as if it's struggling to lock it because it's almost like someone is pressing the button twice to unlock it again a couple seconds after?

Mines doing same mate.
It's took the locking mechanism and solenoid out and cleaned everything up, worked ok for a week or so and now its same again only now the key seems much harder to turn.

I've got a Clifford aswell and if it was the Clifford at fault then removing and cleaning the mechanism would have done nothing.
Must be the solenoid as when I had it out it rattled if you shook it and couldn't move the mechanism up or down unless I held it at an angle

I know what you're talking about. Trust me on this - I'm right. That's how the central locking responds when it can't throw the locks correctly.

in the lock there is like a fail safe that looks for the lock signal. when you lock the car with the key you bypass this part, when you lock the car by the remote it doesn't see the key so unlocks its self because there is a broken part in the lock. get your self down the scrap yard and get another lock as it will be the lock at fault.
